Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains a number of comforts on top of the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
